Could this be the mother of the babies below?  Anything is possible.  Great time to spot wildlife now, especially on the warmer days.

Green Snake Babies

Some of you will know that we recently had a green snake in the lab for a short while and during that time it laid four eggs.  Jessica, our animal specialist, put the eggs in an incubator and waited for things to happen.  All four eggs hatched and we now have four baby green snakes in the lab.  It is hoped that one of the babies can be hand tamed for use in our reptile demos.

The babies are not on public display but if you see Jessica, I am sure she will show them to you.

Little Green Heron Chick

I believe that there has been a Green Heron nest around the boat house too.  Today we had several chicks around, this one flew right in front of us and landed in the dead tree just yards from the boat house deck.  Gave us a nice photo op.

Blue Heron Nest

My apologies for the poor quality of this picture but it was taken at maximum zoom on my little Canon SX260.  This is a picture of the blue heron nest that is situated on the bank opposite the boat house.  Quite easy to see from that vantage point but binoculars are a must.  The chicks are almost ready to fledge.  Imagine the parents chore in keeping those little ones fed!
